Do you have a jewellery design in mind? Would you like to redesign an older ring that just doesn't get much wear anymore? Or maybe there is a style of ring that you just haven't been able to find anywhere!
Bring your ideas to us and we can work with you to create the jewellery you want. Pieces can be made in sterling silver, 14 or 18kt white, yellow or rose gold, platinum and palladium.
Meet with any of our senior staff to put your ideas to paper, focus your ideas and create sketches that will be brought to our goldsmith. Based on your specifications, Magpie will provide an estimate for the work, as well as a 3 dimensional wax rendition if needed . There is no obligation, and no deposit is taken until your final approval.
Step 1: Design Consultation
The first step in the process of making custom designed jewellery is sketching the piece to be made. You may already have a sketch, or maybe a photograph of what you have in mind. If not, one of our qualified staff members will work with you to develop a sketch. A more detailed sketch (including desired dimensions, for instance) will allow for a more accurate estimate. Generally, custom pieces take several weeks to complete (based on their complexity) but if you have time constraints we will work within your timeframe.
Step 2: Estimate
Your design specifications will then be sent to our appointed goldsmith to give you a price estimate. All custom jewellery estimates are free.
If your design requires stones, whether diamonds or semi-precious, we can obtain stones of the highest quality. You will, of course, be able to approve the stones before they are set. Lapidary work, or stone cutting, is also available on request.
Step 3: Development
The next step is the carving of a 3-dimensional wax model. Our goldsmith carves each wax model individually, making the piece as unique as the person receiving it.
Any fine-tuning of details can be done at this point.
Step 4: Casting
We use the final approved model of the wax to cast your design in your metal of choice.
Step 5: Set and Polish
Finally, we polish the piece and set the stones.
